ACT Dr Damian Smith specialises in lower limb arthroplasty, knee reconstruction and paediatric hip conditions. Graduating from the University of Sydney with Degrees in Science and Medicine, Dr Smith undertook much of his junior post-graduate training at The Canberra Hospital before returning to Sydney to complete his Orthopaedic training. He was awarded his Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007. He then embarked on further subspecialty fellowships and was the Fellow to The Canberra Orthopaedic Group from January 2007 to June 2007. Following this, he spent time in the United Kingdom undertaking a Hip Arthroplasty Fellowship in Exeter under the guidance of Mr Graham Gie, then becoming the Paediatric Hip Fellow at the Southampton General Hospital. He has also travelled to Timor Leiste as part of the Orthopaedic Outreach Program. Dr Smith joined the Canberra Orthopaedic Group on his return to Australia in July 2008. He consults at The John James Campus in Deakin, and operates at the Calvary John James Hospital, National Capital Private Hospital, Calvary Public Hospital and the Canberra Hospital, where he also has a role in trauma orthopaedics.
